The world is a dark and lovely place,
in the quiet of a slumbering night,
I shall lie down dreaming…
dreaming in the open green,
“I could feel that there’s a life being led through this book. It truly reflects the joys, blessings, goodness yet also the backstabs, loneliness and pain.”
—Joanna C., @skavansieur - Student and book blogger, Malaysia.
“Classic. Charming. Elegant. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the writer’s style was very reminiscent of classic poets with a modern-day twist.”
—Liz Newman, @liz_newman_writer - Poet and blogger, United States.
“The poems have influences of Early Modern and Late Modern English. Most of the poems display the feelings and thoughts about life, love, nature, God, and others; written in the first person point of view.”
—Nisa, @greennnpanda - Freelance translator and proofreader, Malaysia.
The World Is A Dark And Lovely Place is a poetry book that describes nature, the fear of drowning, friendship, love and loss in a world that is at times dark but beautiful. My writings here are somewhat influenced by the classic style of Emily Dickinson and Robert Frost; but the words, the mood and the settings are entirely my own.
Here are some sample poems for you to read:
The author is a high school teacher teaching English in the southern state of Johor, Malaysia which is very near to the island country of Singapore. During her free time, she reads and writes poetry. She is a self-confessed coffee addict who loves rainy days. Sometimes she does reviews for books, crochets (obsessively) and plays the piano.
